Case Study: Hallway Storage

Hallway storage honiton

The client

Claire and her husband are physiotherapists who run their own business and live with their two young children in a newly renovated cottage near Honiton.

The brief

The client was looking to clear a busy hallway and create storage that would suit the whole family. They needed an area for coats and shoes and additional cupboard space for the children's board games.

The hallway was busy and cluttered

What we did

We created an area that was functional and attractive as a welcoming entrance space to their home. A tall cupboard was built with hanging storage for coats, and pull-out drawers for shoes. The lower cupboard needed to be wide enough to accommodate large board games so instead of using a central divider we reinforced the area with a 3cm back panel and thick shelves to remain sturdy throughout the lifetime of the furniture.

The shaker style doors were spray painted for a high end finish. The open shelves were made with real wood oak veneer and finished with Osmo oil to match the hand rails on the stairs. The internal cabinets were matched with an oak melamine affect for hard wearing.

Finally, we fitted concealed lighting to the shelves and in the cupboards to bring warmth and depth to the shelving.

What the customer said...

"Chris and Tom were a delight to work with from the moment we first made contact. There are many professional companies out there but what stands them out from the crowd is the attention to detail in customer service. All timescales and milestone points through the project were communicated to manage expectation. Giving realistic time frames and keeping to plans seemed of high importance. However at no point did the job feel rushed or squeezed in. Our project appeared as important to just wood furniture as it was to us.
When investing in a piece of bespoke furniture it is easy for cost to run away. Just wood furniture provided an itemised quote accompanying a variety of CAD drawings to help decide how to manage the budget and what impact that might have on the over all look or function of the finished product.
Chris and Tom worked respectfully and professionally, creating as little impact on home life during their visits.
Their work was clean and tidy and to a very high standard.
We are so pleased with the finished product. The attention to detail in the finishing touches make it a really special piece of furniture which we hope to enjoy for years to come.
Thank you Just Wood Furniture!"
