Shaker style 3 door wardrobe in Topsham near Exeter

This bespoke three-door Shaker style wardrobe was designed and installed for a customer in Topsham, a charming village on the outskirts of Exeter. The brief was to create a fitted wardrobe that felt timeless, practical and perfectly suited to the room, while offering generous, well-organised storage.

Materials We Used

The Shaker doors were hand painted in Farrow & Ball’s Lime White, a soft, warm off-white that reflects natural light and brings a calm, understated feel to the space.

Inside the wardrobe, we used Finsa 12Twenty Hickory Frida for the interior finish. This durable, high-quality board adds warmth and contrast while standing up to everyday use. Integrated Loox lighting by Häfele ensures the interior is bright and easy to use, even in deeper sections of the wardrobe.

The internal layout was designed around the customer’s lifestyle, with a mix of shelving and hanging to suit different types of clothing. Shelving provides space for jumpers and shoes, while half-height hanging rails accommodate blouses, shirts and trousers. Full-height hanging sections allow dresses and coats to be stored without creasing, making the most of the available height.

As with all our bespoke fitted wardrobes, every detail was carefully considered, from the proportions of the doors to the internal configuration. The result is a Shaker wardrobe that feels calm, balanced and highly functional, designed specifically for this Topsham home and built to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Why Shaker Style is a Good Choice

Shaker style wardrobes are known for their clean lines and simple detailing, making them a popular choice for homes where longevity and classic design matter. Shaker wardrobes sit comfortably in both traditional and modern interiors and continue to look good for years to come.

This Topsham project is a great example of how a classic Shaker design, combined with thoughtful internal planning and quality materials, can create a wardrobe that feels timeless and completely personal to the home it’s made for.
